"Metafile not valid" error message
I've migrated through RM up to the latest version and am now getting an error message "Metafile not valid" when I try to look at the properties of WMF media files. It seems to work fine with PDF and JPEG files but unfortunately my copies of certificates, scans etc are stored as WMF files.
This was not a problem with RM3 or earlier - any suggestions? |

RE: "Metafile not valid" error message
Can you open the file in the software it was created in and then save it in a more common format such .JPG or maybe even .EMF?

RE: "Metafile not valid" error message
Thanks - I'll probably just convert all the WMF files to JPGs - either that or back to RM3! I'll have to find a batch file conversion program as there are 300+ to convert.

RE: "Metafile not valid" error message
From what I can see RM3 will not let you attach WMF files as images, only as files in the exact same way as RM4 does.
I have attached a WMF file in RM3 then imported that database into RM4 and then viewed the proerties of the WMF without errors. The WMF file I used was created in Illustrator CS3 so perhaps your WMF files are an older standard or something. In the future I would avoid using this file format if possible as it not very commonly used (I think it may have been superseded by the EMF format????). |

RE: "Metafile not valid" error message
On converting the images to JPG or TIF they work fine. Which is best for RM4 - or is another file type better?
The only remaining issue is RM4 doesn't link with the existing renamed files. This means manually relinking each image - is there a way to work round this problem? (Tools - "Fix broken media links" doesn't do it) |

RE: "Metafile not valid" error message
JPG is more widely used as they compress the image and are smaller than TIF files (which can be huge).
As for relinking the files, try the following: 1 - Click "Search" - "Search and replace" 2 - In "Field to search" select "Multimedia filenames" 3 - In "Search for" type ".wmf 4 - In "Replace with" type ".jpg" (assuming you have converted the files to jpegs) 5 - Click "OK" 6 - Check the results and if all are OK then click "Replace all" |

RE: "Metafile not valid" error message
Latest problem is RM hanging with the message Out of Memory when deleting or editing multimedia files.
