Sources & Show Usage
Hi

Sources have been given much improvement in v4 but I still have to enter UK Census information (Piece, Folio, Page, Number) in free-form format. This I can live with, but it would be good to see which records are linked to each source. Much like the "Show Usage" button in the Media Gallery. Likewise, which people are linked to each place in the Place List.

Hello

If you click "Lists" - "Source templates" you can copy and then edit an existing source to make a source to your preference.

I have attached a custom source that I have quickly knocked up (please virus scan and then unzip before using).

Perhaps if we get a set of these created we can get them put in a sticky thread or up on rootsmagic.co.uk.

As for a "Show usage" button, maybe that could be something for a wish list thread.

Attached File(s)
.zip  Census_custom.zip (Size: 933 bytes / Downloads: 59)

RE: Sources & Show Usage
I thought of creating a new source type but with several thousand census enties to convert I'll stay where I am. I did manage to work around the "Show Usage" idea by using Reports ... Lists ... Source List which gave me what I was after.

Hello

If you click 'Reports' then 'Lists' then go to 'Source List' and click, you will get a list of all sources that you have with all the Citations shown together with the Fact covered by each citation.

Hope this helps

Hi

Maybe I am just being stupid but where do I extract this custom source to once I have unzipped it?

Thanks

Hi Moppie

Click "Lists" - "Source Templates" then click "Import". Navigate to the file and click "Open".

The source should now appear in the list.
