FamilySearch Central
What is this all about? One of the icons allows you to update your research using familysearch (NOT http://www.familysearch.org) you click on it and it asks for a username and password. I dont have one, but it wont let me get one, or get rid of the screen by hitting cancel. it keeps saying its wrong, and comes back. I have had to Ctrl Alt del the program to get out of it, which isnt good news if you havent backed up!!!

Currently I understand this is still in progress and is ONLY available to registered LDS Church members, which is why you are asked for username & password and why you can not access NFS. When complete it will be available generally, but I do not know when this will be. It will have facilities for users to access and amend details entered by other users, etc. dennis |

RE: FamilySearch Central
In order to use the New Family Search option you must be a member of the LDS and register here:
https://new.familysearch.org/en/ To use the old Family Search click on the "WebSearch" tab and select Family Search as the provider. |

If you click on the FamilySearch icon on the toolbar, then select "FamilySearch preferences and profiles" and use an invalid or blank login, no matter what you do you can't get back. The only way I've found it Ctrl-Alt-Del. Its a bug in 4.0.7.1. Perhaps it'll be fixed in the next release? Genealogy - The only time digging up dead people is socially acceptable |
